Meet The founders

Stacy Grace Akinyi

Stacy Grace Akinyi is a seasoned community development specialist and social entrepreneur. She is a trained agricultural economist with many years of experience. She has a proven track record in sustainable farming, microfinance, women's empowerment, and grassroots business development and operations. She is the Founder and Director of Ahero Sustainable Farms, Kisumu, Kenya, a community-focused agribusiness that empowers local farmers, the Executive Director of "Jenga Vijana" (Build the Youth) Initiative, Kisumu County, a non-profit that provides vocational training and startup capital for young entrepreneurs, and the CEO of Ushirika Women's Collective, a micro-finance and artisan cooperative that supports over 200 women in the Lake Region.

Her expertise and passion for economic empowerment earned her recognition as a leading advocate for sustainable development by the Kisumu County government, with a concentration in agribusiness value chains and community-owned resource management. Ms. Akinyi is a seasoned strategic planner, working specifically with women-led cooperatives and youth groups in securing grants, building capacity, and bringing goods to market. This has allowed her to showcase her exceptional leadership, negotiation, and management skills, as well as her deep problem-solving abilities.

Beyond her professional dedication, Stacy is a devoted mother, a pillar of her church, and a compassionate philanthropist, deeply involved in ministries that support single mothers, orphans, and children affected by poverty. She volunteers with organizations promoting girls' education and financial literacy in rural schools across Kisumu County. Stacy is also very passionate about traditional Luo music and dance and dedicates her spare time to preserving cultural heritage by teaching the nyatiti (an eight-stringed lyre) to the youth in her community.

Damaris Ochieng

Damaris Ochieng is a distinguished leader with a multifaceted background in public health, agricultural development, and community philanthropy. With a steadfast commitment to creating sustainable change, Damaris has established herself as a pivotal figure across these sectors. As a Public Health Advocate and Community Organizer, Damaris brings a deep-seated passion, strategic insight, and practical expertise to her work. She is dedicated to improving community health outcomes, particularly in rural areas, by strengthening local systems and expanding access to essential care and education.

In addition to her work in public health, Damaris is also an accomplished entrepreneur in the realms of agribusiness and trade. Serving as the Chairperson of Obat Holdings in Uganda and Kenya, she demonstrates visionary leadership and astute business management in driving growth and sustainability for her enterprises. Beyond her professional endeavors, Damaris is profoundly committed to uplifting her community. She founded and chairs a private charitable foundation, the "Obat Rural Development Trust," which focuses on empowering smallholder farmers and vulnerable families. Through this initiative, Damaris provides critical resources, training, and support to foster economic resilience and improve livelihoods.

With her diverse expertise, entrepreneurial drive, and philanthropic heart, Damaris Ochieng continues to make a significant and lasting impact in the lives of many, both professionally and personally. Her unwavering dedication to serving others and driving positive, community-led change solidifies her reputation as a respected chairperson and a cornerstone leader in the East African region.
